Chennaiyin FC have extended the contract of Rahim Ali on longterm basis, IFTWC can confirm.
The 20-year old striker hailing from Barrackpore joined the Marina Machans in 2018. He was a part of the Elite Academy and represented India at the FIFA Under-17 World Cup 2017, which was hosted in India. After the tournament, he was selected to play for AIFF developmental side Indian Arrows.
The versatile striker made his professional debut in I-League season 2017-18 against Chennai City coming in as a substitute in the 73rd minute. Making 16 appearances, he bagged three assists, clocking 942 minutes in the games.

Having signed for Chennaiyin FC in 2018, he was sent back again on loan to Indian Arrows where he didn’t fail to impress the fans as he played 15 matches. Returning to Chennaiyin FC, the Indian Super League 2019-20 season was not a very fruitful one for the young lad as he was able to make only 6 appearances. Last season, under the guidance of head coach Csaba Laszlo, Rahim was mainly exploited as a winger where he scored 2 goals out of 16 matches.
As Rahim’s contract was due to expire and his impressive season with Chennaiyin attracted interest from elsewhere too. Speculations ramped up that that he could leave Chennaiyin FC, but it’s very sure that he has made his choise to extend his stay at Marina Machans team.
