ISL – East Bengal FC signs Saul Crespo from Odisha FC

East Bengal FC has successfully completed the signing of 26-year-old Spanish midfielder Saul Crespo from Odisha FC on a one-year deal, IFTWC can confirm.

Spanish midfielder Saul Crespo has joined the Red and Gold side for the upcoming season. The Spaniard provided two assists in Indian Super League and bagged three goals in the Durand Cup for Odisha FC in the previous season.

Saul began his footballing career in 2015 when he made a move from the B team of Ponferradina, His hometown club to Atletico Astorga FC and then moved back to Ponferradina, But this time to the first team of the club.

Then he continued in Spain for 7 more years and made a move to Arandina, Another spanish club on a season-long loan deal and then back to his home club again. It was in the 2022/23 season when Saul was signed by a club outside of spain for the first time in his whole career.

He has played 128 matches for Ponferradina, Scored one, and assisted one throughout his whole stint with his home club. In a 1-1 draw against UD Logroés on September 19, 2015, Saul made his professional debut as he came on as a second-half substitute for Ponferradina.

Saul made his club debut for Odisha FC on August 17 against NorthEast United FC in the Durand Cup, Resoundingly winning 6-0 over the Highlanders.

He was a permanent presence in the starting 11 of Odisha FC, Playing a total of 26 matches for the club in all tournaments combined, and was also seen as an active presence in the midfield and finished 6th in the Hero Indian Super League, Quarter-finals in the Durand Cup and was crowned as Champions for the first time ever in the history of the club in the Hero Super Cup.

East Bengal FC fans are happy with this top-notch signing decision from the management and are expecting more amazing moves like this in the future for the club.
