Songpu Singsit has been called back to the squad by SC East Bengal, IFTWC can confirm.
Songpu was sent home and not registered in the East Bengal squad by former coach Manolo Diaz, but the 22-year-old will be back with Mario Rivera at the helm for the second half of the Indian Super League.
The youngster appeared in 12 matches for Neroca last year, registering his name thrice on the score sheet and providing three assists. He played mostly on the left side, and was one of the best Indian forwards in the league. As a result of his performances throughout the season, Songpu won the Fan’s Emerging Player award as well.
East Bengal had concluded the signing of Songpu Singsit last summer from Neroca FC. However, alongside players like Subho Ghosh and Romeo Fernandes, Songpu had to head back home under the directions of the then head-coach Manolo Diaz.
SC East Bengal is presently at the bottom of the ISL table with 4 draws and 4 losses. They are yet to register a win as a result of which they parted ways with Manolo Diaz and Mario Rivera was appointed as the new head coach.
With the winter transfer window open now, The Red and Gold Brigade will have to make some bold moves if they are to make a push for the top four in this season’s ISL.
