FC Goa gaffer Juan Ferrando and midfielder Alberto Noguera addressed the media in an online press conference ahead of their 12th league match of the season. Goa will face ATK Mohun Bagan, who are at the second position while Goa is behind them, standing third in the league table. Here is what Juan and Alberto had to say about #FCGATKMB
Alberto shared his thoughts on playing in India and how it all happened,
“Football is football everywhere and I feel good here and it’s a Spanish team because the coach and the teammates are from there.” He added that he consulted his friend before coming to India, who played here.
The league is now going reverse fixture in the second round and Alberto shared his thoughts on facing the Mariners once again,
“We are fighting for the top position of the league and this is an important match. If we beat them, we will fight for the position, that is what I’m thinking about. Of course, we are in a good position right now and the important thing is the finishing at the top four, said Alberto.
Juan Ferrando shared his thoughts on the game,
“All the games are important for us. Tomorrow will be a nice game because we are playing against a very good team and for us, it’s a new opportunity to get the three points and a good opportunity to continue to improve like a team.”
Juan also opined that all the teams will be better in the second round, than the first. He said,
“All the teams will be better in the second round than the first round. For us, it’s very important. All the games have to improve, to change some tactical details, to prepare different plans, we have more options and the most important thing is to find the best way for the players and the team.”
“We have a very good squad. I’m happy because we can prepare for the game with all the players. Of course, in the end, we have to take the best decision depending on the fitness and feelings of the players. The most important thing is thinking like a team and play the best players tomorrow against ATK Mohun Bagan.”
Alberto was asked about him being at the bench in most of the matches, to which he replied,
“Every player wants to play. We train every day and we have to be ready whenever the coach wants us to play. We are here to help the team and are ready for every match they need. It’s hard to be on the bench, but it’s a team.”
Juan also gave us some injury updates and he said Leander has started training with the team after his injury.
Juan made his ideas clear that the team is aiming for the playoffs and every point counts.
He said, “The problem here is that the season is short. Here, every game, one point, three points are very important for us because everybody knows that our target is to play the playoffs.”
He also added how Kerala Blasters went off of three points for playing the playoffs last night, stressing the importance of every point.
The gaffer expressed his happiness with the squad as he said,
“In the preseason, we worked with all the players because, for example, this week we don’t have a lot of time to prepare and it’s difficult to prepare with all these players. At the end, this is the situation and then we take the best decision for everybody. I’m happy because all the players are ready and are working. Of course, I want to give opportunities for everybody but it’s only possible to play eleven and I am thinking what is best for the team.”
