It will be a shame if the league is stopped in the middle – Ivan Vukomanovic

After an unbeaten 9-match run in the league, Kerala Blasters FC enjoyed the top of the table luxury for the first time in seven years, until Jamshedpur FC secured a late win against SC East Bengal. Who, however, have played a game more than the Blasters.

The team didn’t lost a game since the ATK Mohun Bagan game, which wasn’t entirely a fair result by any means. “We had a good game.”, exclaimed Ivan Vukomanovic. “When you concede first goal in the first minute from an offside position and you still have the strength to do things that you want to do, it’s great.”

Unfair referee decisions have affected everyone in the league, not just Kerala Blasters. “Not even looking at us, if we have VAR technology in the league, we would have seen a completely different situation in the table. Because due to it, many results have gone the way it wasn’t supposed to be.” said the top of the table head coach.

COVID has hit the ISL bubble as reports suggest. The match between ATK Mohun Bagan and Odisha FC was postponed because of this scare. “With what we are most concerned right now is the COVID! ATK Mohun Bagan knew before the game that they had a case yet they were supposed to play.”

“Now in the chain process, every team is involved. Hopefully there will be no more cases but with the things going on, I doubt. I’m afraid that we may see more difficult situations. I really hope that nothing like this happens. But we are prepared for it. We have started testing every 12 hours.”

“Hopefully the FSDL gets it under control and continue the league to go till the end. If it’s stopped in the middle, it will be a shame.” added Ivan.

As a matter of Ivan’s concern, a player in the Odisha FC camp has tested positive for COVID in a RTPCR test. However, all the others inside the Odisha FC bubble have tested negative in a rapid antigen test. This makes Blasters’ next opponent the third team to be hit in the ISL bubble. The scare once again sheds clouds over an ISL game at the Tilak Maidan.
