The Indian Women’s League recently concluded its Round 4 with several teams providing an entertaining week of football action. HOPS FC registered the first win of their IWL campaign with a 1-0 victory over East Bengal FC.

On the other hand, Odisha FC managed to continue their superb form as they secured a 1-0 victory over Sethu FC. Sports Odisha’s disappointing form troubled them in Round 4 as they lost conceding eight goals to Gokulam Kerala.
HOPS FC beat East Bengal FC to register their first win in the IWL

Round 4 of the IWL commenced with a match between East Bengal FC and Hops FC. Going into the game, HOPS hadn’t registered a single victory despite playing both their games at home. However, in the away game against East Bengal, the team seemed to find their luck as they registered a comfortable 1-0 victory. Despite the first half of the game being goalless, HOPS FC seemed to be in control of the game.
In the second half, the Delhi-based team’s hard work got them a result when Gladys Amfobea scored a brilliant goal from 35 yards. This stunning strike by the Ghanaian international was enough to secure the first victory of the season for HOPS FC. In their next game, the team is scheduled to face Odisha FC in yet another away game.
Odisha FC continued their fine form against Sethu FC

Going into the game against Sethu FC, Odisha FC was a massive favorite. While the team had a home advantage, they also had two consecutive wins heading into this fixture. Hence, before the game, many believed Odisha would register a comfortable win. While the team did win, there was nothing comfortable about it as their victory was hard-fought.
After a goalless first half which saw both teams create opportunities, Pyari Xaxa won a penalty in the 52nd minute for Odisha FC. This penalty won by the 26-year-old was converted into a goal by Indumathi Kadhiresan. While Sethu FC could have scored an equalizer later in the game, an important save from Odisha goalkeeper Shreya Hooda denied them that opportunity, thus giving Odisha FC the win.
Gokulam Kerala score eight against Sports Odisha

Sports Odisha’s terrible form this season continued against Gokulam Kerala as the latter netted eight goals in their Round 4 match. Gokulam Kerala had sealed the game in the first 45 minutes as they ended the first half with a 6-0 lead over Sports Odisha. However, two more goals in the second half of the game ensured that the Kerala-based team registered one of their biggest wins ever.
Throughout the game, Sports Odisha’s defense looked clueless. However, this does not mean their attack was great, as they couldn’t create chances either. Overall, the match between these two teams looked like a complete mismatch, and Sports Odisha will have plenty to work on if they are to register their first points this season. In their next outing, the team will face Sethu FC in an away game.
