Former Kerala Blasters man Ritwik Das has signed a 3-year-contract with Jamshedpur FC on a free transfer. The right-sided midfielder will fit into Owen Coyle’s preferred 4-4-2 setup and help in serving as backup for Farukh Choudhary.

Das began his career at Calcutta Customs in the Calcutta Football League (CFL). He got his first regular minutes for Kalighat MS in the CFL second division in 2016-17 before making a move to Real Kashmir in 2017. The 24-year-old became a mainstay for the Snow Leopards, notching up 39 appearances in all competitions, scoring 4 goals and getting 2 assists.

In the summer of 2020, Ritwik joined Kerala Blasters FC, his first foray in the ISL, India’s premier footballing competition. He made 4 appearances for the Yellow Army, marking his debut in the competition in the season opener against ATK Mohun Bagan on 20th November.

The signing of the 24-year-old brings more depth to the midfield of the Men of Steel, which was often brought under scrutiny for not creating enough chances for its strikers last season. However, the Red Miners have made very shrewd signings that fit Owen Coyle’s system and will bring more fluidity to the team’s shape and movements.

Das also has defensive elements in his game as he can also operate as a wingback or a defensive midfielder. With yet another Indian player added to their roster, Jamshedpur FC are shaping up nicely for the ISL.
