Odisha FC and Joseph Gombau have parted ways. Club announced the news on Wednesday on social media handles.

After leaving the club, this is what Josep Gombau had to say, “It wasn’t an easy decision to make. I have enjoyed my time at Odisha and I am proud of what I built there. It is with some regret that I can’t finish what I started, but I will always be rooting for the success of Odisha FC.”
Gombau joined Delhi Dynamos 2 years ago for ISL 2018-19. He continued another season with them when they moved to Odisha. The Former Barcelona Youth coach impressed everyone with his footballing style and never feared to give youngsters chances. Players like Nandhakumar, Jerry, Shubham Sarangi and Vinit Rai have impressed under him.

Gombau’s team came close this season for qualifying for the top 4 but his team was inconsistent and faced many injury problems. He was in charge of the team for 39 matches and had a point per game ratio of 1.15. They scored 1.38 goals per game but conceded 1.59 per game. They finished 6th this season and 8th last season.
Club President Mr. Rohan Sharma said, “Some things in life are more important than football. I’d like to thank Coach Gombau and his coaching staff from the bottom of my heart for all that they have done for the club. The whole coaching staff was such a positive influence for the club. No matter where they all go in life they will always have a home in Odisha!”
According to rumours, Joseph Gombau is all set to sign for David Villa Sánchez-owned USL Championship side Queensborob FC.
