Ferran Corominas played the last three seasons for FC Goa

Ferran Corominas signed for FC Goa in 2017, The Catalan striker was immediately a star turn at the club bagging the Golden Boot in his inaugural season with 18 goals. Corominas quickly transformed into a vital cog in the system of fellow Spaniard Sergio Lobera. FC Goa excelled under the playing style implemented by Sergio Lobera as they finished 3rd in the league. The main reason for the high ranked finish was Ferran Corominas hitting a purple patch. In his debut season itself, Corominas thrashed Rafael Coelho’s 7 goal record to become the Top scorer for FC Goa in the ISL.

Following his awe-inspiring debut campaign, Corominas decided to extend his stay with the gaurs for the 2018/19 season. The former RCD Espanyol forward continued were he left off last season as he resumed to wreak havoc on opposition defenses. Unfortunately, Corominas couldn’t win the coveted ISL trophy as FC Goa lost to Bengaluru FC in the final. But he again went onto receive the golden boot award for netting 16 goals taking his overall tally to 34 goals in 2 ISL seasons by that Corominas also surpassed Iain Hume’s 29 goal record to become the All-time Top scorer of the ISL.

With the quality, FC Goa had in their ranks success was pretty much inevitable. They won the controversial second edition of the super cup by defeating John Gregory’s Chennaiyin FC. Corominas was again the star of the show as he led the scoring charts with 7 goals.

Instrumental in FC Goa’s runners-up finish and super cup triumph in 2018/19 season Corominas decided to commit another year with the Gaurs. Many predicted that the 2019/20 ISL would finally see its All-time top goalscorer slowing down but the fan-favorite proved all of them wrong. Corominas kept on scoring and an injury denied him to secure potentially what could have been a hat-trick of golden boot awards. Even after missing a few matches, Corominas managed to finish just one goal behind eventual winner Nerijus Valskis. Although FC Goa parted ways with their most successful gaffer Sergio Lobera midseason the team was able to stick together and finish at the summit. Their first placed finish made them the first-ever Indian club to earn a spot in the Asian champions league and saw them lift the League winners shield.

At 37, Corominas is still a handy option but with the signing of Igor Angulo from Gornik Zabrze, it seems that FC Goa has decided to move on. Kerala Blasters have been constantly active in the transfer market as they are undergoing a major overhaul under newly appointed sporting director Karolis Skynkis and coach Kibu Vicuna. With top scorer, Bartholomew Ogbeche yet to agree to take a pay cut Kerala Blasters seem to be looking for alternatives and have identified Corominas as a possible short term replacement

Although Kerala Blasters have managed to rope in most of their domestic targets they have been seemingly unlucky when it comes to foreign signings this season. Everyone was certain that Tiri to Kerala Blasters was a Done Deal but the deal took a U-turn as the talks broke down at the last moment because the player was not willing to accept a pay cut. The hard-luck did not end there for the two-time finalists as they also failed to secure Colombian defender Oswaldo Henriquez who broke the deal with the Kerala Blasters because of the increasing Covid-19 cases in the country.

With 55 goals under his belt in just 3 seasons, Ferran Corominas will not come cheap and is not an easy purchase for the Kerala Blasters by any means as they are not alone in the market to secure the 37-year-old forward’s signature. As per our sources, Mumbai City FC are also closely monitoring the situation and might consider making a move for the star striker. If Mumbai City FC manages to sign Ferran Corominas he will re-unite with his former coach Sergio Lobera and Teammates Mourtada Fall, Ahmed Jahouh, and Mandar Rao Desai.
