Kerala Blasters in talks to rope in Alvaro Vazquez from Segunda side Sporting Gijon.

The 30-year-old striker comes with a baggage of experience from the Spanish leagues and was also a part of the age group National teams. Alvaro Vazquez has remarkably bagged the UEFA U21 Championship while representing Spain in 2013.

“Alvaro has a good chance of going to Kerala Blasters FC in the Indian Super League,” mentioned one of the sources close to the development. He was linked with Mumbai City FC but we can confirm that he was not contacted by the side previously.

Alvaro Vazquez to Kerala Blasters FC

Being an RCD Espanyol graduate, Alvaro has played for their senior team for around 70 games. Albeit the Spaniard has changed quite a few bases in his country, one thing has remained constant, to wit, his goal-scoring knack. With 21 goals netted in for Espanyol (including his exploits at their B side) and 16 more for Getafe, Alvaro Vazquez is definitely a player who has a nose for goals.

Speaking about his recent figures ever since he joined Sporting Gijon back in 2019, Alvaro Vazquez has played 50+ games for the club, scoring on six occasions. Notably, he has even been awarded the FIFA U-20 World Cup Silver shoe for the 2011 edition.

The Barcelona-born is Kerala-bound, and with his addition, the Blasters will fill in another piece of their jigsaw. A big tick marks off their shortlist, indeed. We might probably witness Alvaro partner up with another international star upfront for Kerala Blasters FC, which makes the prospects brighter for the Yellow Army!
