Kerala Blasters is set to rope in Croatian defender Marko Leskovic as their 6th foreigner, IFTWC can confirm.
Dinamo Zagreb defender Marko Leskovic is all set to ply his trade for Kerala Blasters. Alvaro Vazquez, Enes Sipovic, Chencho Gyeltshen, Jorge Pereyra Diaz and Adrian Luna are the other five foreigners who have signed for the Yellow Army.
“Kerala Blasters has agreed on terms with Marko Leskovic and is set to sign him ahead of the next season,” a source close to the development informed IFTWC.
Marko Leskovic has experience of playing more than 150 games in the Croatian top division. The 30-year-old defender has played in the UEFA Europa League as well. In 2016, he penned down a 5-year deal with Croatian giants Dinamo Zagreb. He spent last season on loan at NK Locomotiva.
Marko is a left-footed centre back who can play as a defensive midfielder as well. His debut for Croatia came against Argentina in an international in 2014. His last international appearance was against Estonia in a 3-0 defeat.
Kerala Blasters spent a lot of time evaluating profiles for the last foreigner. The club also considered Argentine defender Mauro Dos Santos. Several other profiles from Europe were also offered to the club. In the end, Marko’s versatility and experience made the cut.
