Kerala United FC is in advanced talks to sign 21-year-old Paraguayan striker Hugo Sandoval, IFTWC can confirm. United group shortlisted three players and Sandoval is the most probable one to be signed.
The 21-year-old, who was regarded as one of the best talents to emerge from Paraguay in recent years, was a member of CA 3 de Febrero’s first team before joining the U-20 team of Corinthians on loan. In the Sau Paulo Soccer Junior Cup, Hugo Sandoval finished as the top scorer for Corinthians by scoring 13 goals.
The Corinthians, however, did not exercise the purchase option, and Sandoval returned to Paraguay to sign for Club Nacional Asuncion’s U-23 team. Sandoval is now in advanced talks to join Kerala United in the I-League second division in order to help them qualify for the I-League.
The right-footed striker has a great vision for goals. With age on his side, he is very quick, as well as physically strong, and doesn’t lose the ball easily. Sandoval has also been a regular member of the Paraguayan National Team’s U-15 and U-19 setups.
With the signings of young Brazilian defender Gabriel Lima and promising youngster Athul Unnikrishnan, Kerala United has shown plenty of promise in the transfer market so far. In addition, former Gokulam Kerala FC technical director Bino George has also been appointed as the club’s new head coach.
