Kibu Vicuña’s side suffered yet another forgettable night against Odisha FC as the latter grabbed the first win of the season emphatically. They are now positioned at the tenth place in the points table.
“First of all, I want to say sorry to all the supporters of Kerala Blasters FC because tonight we didn’t play a good match, we committed too many mistakes and this is not the team we want to put forth. Sorry for that.
“Tactically, we committed a lot of mistakes and the team is going to he mentally hurt because of the result. But the good thing is that we have a game on Sunday, we have to react, we are Kerala Blasters. We have to focus on the next game and our objective is to grab the three points against Jamshedpur FC on Sunday.”
Kerala Blasters have now conceded 17 goals in this season having only played 9 matches. On this note, Kibu agreed to the fact that turning the game today was almost impossible when Kerala Blasters FC had already conceded 4 goals and that it is a tough night for the team.
Kibu continued,
“We started the game well, we scored the first goal. Then the game became evenly contested but we didn’t react well after their second goal. We started off the second half poorly and we only started reacting when the match was already lost.”
On being asked why there were uncertainties in selecting the starting eleven, Kibu said,
“We had players who weren’t fully ready. Costa Nhamoinesu picked up an injury yesterday, Bakary Koné was still recovering and was not ready to play 90 minutes. We had to choose between players who were available.”
When asked about where does Kibu Vicuña see this team going ahead in this season, he said,
“In football, we have to keep going forward. I’m sure this team can do much better than what they’ve been putting forth. We have shown that in the other games and from here onwards we have to be good at every aspect, tactically and technically.”
Kibu Vicuña signed off.
