Two of the most even teams of this season in terms of the points acquired are going head to head tomorrow at the Fatorda Stadium. FC Goa and Kerala Blasters FC both have two draws and a loss in their bags. It’s been quite a drama in the Kerala Blasters squad as Vicente Gomez missed out on the previous game due to fitness issue, Sergio Cidoncha, the captain, is said to be out for at least two months, Naorem Mahesh Singh and Shaiborlang Kharpan are out on loan to Sudeva FC and Arjun Jayaraj has mutually parted ways with the club.
On this note, Kibu said,
“About Cido, it is definitely bad news for us but we do have players who can play just as well. So, we can work on different combinations and we have different possibilities at hand. We have top players like Vicente, Jeakson, Rohit, Facundo, Sahal, Givson, and these players can play in different positions in the midfield and in the final third, we will look to create the best combination possible and we will focus on improving Cido’s situation with time.
“In some rare unfortunate cases in football, players will get injured and the opportunity will go to another player. And the new one will have to work hard to keep up with the opportunity he is presented with.
“As of now we have 30 players in our team, and not every player will get the chance, every player has to fight for their position. We are happy with our youths, they’re very professional and they have good attitudes. They can play quality football. But sometimes we’ll have a lot of players in the same position and Arjun and the club mutually decided to terminate the contract. We wish him all the best for his future endeavours.”
About the match against FC Goa, Kibu said,
“Every game is a challenge for us, and FC Goa are definitely a good challenge. We are focused for the game. It’s true that we have a similar style of play to that of FC Goa. There will be a battle for possession but the respective teams will play their cards in the game, it’s as simple as that.
“They have very good players and a fantastic coach. In the last season they won the matches regularly. So, they are one of the big shots of the league. And as the season proceeds, they will improve. And I’m sure that it is the same for us as well. My team will improve a lot more as the season proceeds. I’m sure both the teams will look to take the three points tomorrow. We will train well and hard and we believe in ourselves.”
Kerala Blasters had the most shots and an edge in terms of possession against Kerala Blasters and the finishing in the final third has been a going concern for them, on this note, Kibu said,
“We have to improve our game as we move on. We like possessional football but at the same time we have to create chances and score goals as well. We are working on that and are assessing the situation properly, and we’ll have to improve on all the aspects of the game and that’s all. The results will come.
“I’m sure that Gary and Jordan will have a good season this time. It’s just the question of time for the players to get adjusted with the conditions. And they will create chances and score goals, I have no doubt, I’m sure about that.”
Albino Gomes, on his comeback to ISL, said,
“Of course, I started the season with full confidence. There are a lot of matches coming up for us and I’ll have to keep up with the same confidence throughout. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do that and will help the team in getting positive results.
“We discuss a lot before the match. We watch a lot of set-piece videos and continue to learn from all of them. The coaches help us a lot during these instances, he told me to wait for the last moment and to watch the ball, I did that and was able to save the penalty. We hope to continue to keep up with the same performance throughout.
“We are pretty confident about the coach’s game-plan and we are doing well in the training sessions. I have also adjusted to the style of play and I hope we’ll be able to implement these ideas on the pitch.”
