The season opener of the ISL put forth an exciting performance from the ATK Mohun Bagan side and it did not turn out to be the very best day for Kerala Blasters. Roy Krishna’s solitary goal sealed the deal and it took a toll on the Kerala based side.
Kibu Vicuña talked in the post-match conference and expressed his thoughts about the match as to how he was cautious playing against the former champions.
“We prepared (for) the game as best as possible. I think the plan of the game was very clear. We are happy with the performance of the team and tonight we lost the game because in the third we were a bit unlucky and they scored. We had some chances to score but we didn’t convert. Now we have to focus on the next game.”
Kerala Blasters had the possessional advantage but lacked the final instinct. On that note, Kibu said,
“Yeah, I think we have got to improve in the final third. We had the ball in the first zone and the second zone but didn’t do quite well in the final third. And that is the aspect in which we have to improve.”
On the absence of Nishu, Kibu said,
“Prasanth is a good player. He does well in that position and today as well he did good. And Nishu had an incident in the preseason and we’re waiting for him to be 100 percent fit. He is surely an important player for us”, Kibu Vicuña signed off.
