Kolkata Giants Mohunbagan AC extends the contract of goal keeper Shilton Paul and defender Lalchhawnkima(Kim Kima) for one more season. Shilton,31,who has been the club captain since 2014 played nearly 240 matches in his 13 years long spell for Mohunbagan and he is going to extend his stay for one more season. 28 year old defender Kim Kima signed for Mohunbagan in 2018 and paired up well with Kingsley last season.The Mizoram born former Aizawl FC and Royal Wahingdoh defender has been handed a contract which will confirm his stay at the club for one more season.
East Bengal Club have announced that they have extended the contracts of their three Academy products Prakash Sarkar, Manoj Mohammed and P.C. Rohlupuia until 2023. In a media statement, the club said, “Quess East Bengal FC is proud to extend academy products, Prakash Sarkar, Manoj Md. and P.C. Rohlupuia’s contracts from 2020 to 2023.”
22 year old Prakash Sarkar has been with the senior team for a couple of season with him mainly getting playing time in the Calcutta Football League with Prakash being often a substitute during the I-League.
Manoj captained the East Bengal U-18 team and played for the team as a centre-back. Manoj was part of the 2018/19 I-League squad but head coach Alejandro Menendez Garcia made him a left-back, a position in which he appeared 16 times for the first team. He also had once chosen as the EB player of the month by the fans. Mizoram born teenager P.C Rohlupuia is one of the boys who will make the step from the East Bengal under-18 side to the senior team.
Mohun Bagan’s new head coach Jose Antonio Kibu Vicuna landed in Kolkata on Thursday morning, to a grand reception at the Subhash Chandra Bose International Airport. Along with assistant Tomasz Tchorz, the Spaniard arrived with thousands of supporters crowding the airport in anticipation to greet their new tactician. “I feel great to be in Kolkata. We want to start working with the team. Till now, we have been working in what you call the ‘office’. However, the best thing for a coach is to work in the field,” said the Spaniard in an interview with MBAC TV.
East Bengal appointed Bastab Roy as head of youth developement coach to strengthen the grass root level. Bastab will also be in charge as assistant coach of the senior team for the upcoming season,the duty he has done in the concluded season.Former Eastbengal player Abhra Mondal will continue his duty as goalkeeper coach.
ATK signed another Wellington Phoenix striker David Williams for the upcoming season. He will be pairing up with his former teammate Roy Krishna.The 31 year old scored 11 goals in the last season and has experience in playing for several clubs in Europe.
