Mumbai City FC is set to sign Lalengmawia Apuia on a long-term contract – a move IFTWC can confirm.
He had one year left on his contract with NorthEast United FC, but Mumbai City FC will acquire his services for the upcoming season. Apuia‘s refusal to extend his contract with The Highlanders aided the deal.
Apuia stood out among all the midfielders last season and was appreciated for his calmness and ability to manage the midfield. A CDM primarily, Lalengmawia created history when he led his team in the ISL at the age of only 20. The youngster from Aizawl was also named Emerging Player of the Season a few months back. He was subsequently named as FPAI Young Player of the Year for the season 2020-21.
Lalengmawia ‘Apuia’ is just 20 years old and will be a huge asset for Mumbai City FC. He can grow leaps and bounds and reap the rewards of Islanders’ massive investment in him if he is nurtured effectively.
Mumbai City FC’s vision of Asian success has taken another step forward with the transfer of Apuia from NorthEast United to their side.
