JOHN ARNE RIISE
Another big name player from Liverpool, John Arne Risse signed for the Delhi Dynamos for the second season of the ISL. He made a total of 13 appearances for them and led the team to the semi finals of the ISL. He, along with Anas Edathodika formed a solid partnership at the back and the duo recieved a lot of plaudits for their performances.
He signed for Chennaiyin FC for the third season of the ISL and made ten appearances for them. Much was expected from him but he failed to live upto the expectations that season and Chennaiyin finished a lowly seventh out of the possible eight.
A player with tremendous potential, highlighted by his numbers, couldn’t accept playing for the sake of playing and retired from the game soon after.
In a career spanning 19 years, he made a total of 735 appearances and played for the biggest clubs in both of England as well as Italy. While he played a total of 348 games for Liverpool, he also racked up 137 appearances in the Serie A.
He won a number of trophies in his career, the biggest of them all, being the UEFA Champions League.
