ATK interested in signing emerging player of I League 2018-2019.
After strengthening attacking department with the signing of Jobby Justin, contract extension of Edu Garcia and Lanzarote staying for another year, ATK are now looking forward to strengthen the defense.
Gaurav Bora is the next player linked with ATK. ATK conceded 22 goals in 18 matches in ISL. Addition of Gaurav Bora can solve ATK’s defensive woes. Gaurav was phenomenal for Chennai City FC in I League. Although he didn’t impressed that much when he played for India u23.
Bora is from Assam and he started his footballing career in Delhi at Baichung Bhutia Football School. After consistent good performances, he was called up for Delhi u16 team. He caught the eye of FC Pune City scouts and got selected for FC Pune City academy after a successful trail.
In 2017, Bora was loaned to Chennai City FC. Bora impressed Chennai City FC coaching staff that season so he was loaned back to the club the next season. Gaurav made his mark when he played as central defender under coach Akbar Nawas. He formed a solid partnership with Roberto Eslava. On 9 March 2019, Bora scored a brace in Chennai City’s last match of the season against Minerva Punjab which helped the club win their first ever I League title and his first trophy in professional football.
Will FC Pune City let him go? It will be interesting to see further developments on Bora’s move to ATK.
