Ahead of the clash against Bengaluru FC, Hyderabad FC’s head-coach Manolo Marquez addressed the media in a pre-match press conference.

Hyderabad FC is undefeated in five games but they have three back to back draws and they have dropped a few points. So this is what Manolo Marquez had to say.

“Yes, I think at this moment, the competition is very very well, there are a lot of draws, it is very difficult because all the teams are fighting to get to the top four. We played against Mumbai in a very well way, we were closer to winning the game than Mumbai”

“We could have decided the game against Jamshedpur FC in the first half but the second half was very bad. For me, as a spectator, it was a boring game”

Sankar Roy has joined Hyderabad FC on a loan transfer and their goalkeeper Subrata Paul has joined East Bengal on a loan transfer, so Manolo Marquez thinks that Sankar Roy is a good addition to the squad.

“He is a good goalkeeper; he is very fast, he plays very good with his feet, he is young, and he is a good goalkeeper for our style of play.”

Adil Khan and Subrata Paul have left Hyderabad FC on loan transfers to other clubs, the squad has become younger.

“I think if you want to start a new project, you need to continue with these players. I don’t know what will happen with Hyderabad next season but I am sure that in a new project you need to be confident with the young players you have.”

Hyderabad FC is in the top four right now by playing good football which is something the whole ISL has been praising and this is what Manolo Marquez said about the club’s future result.

“I remember when I was in Las Palmas with Quique Setien the former Barcelona coach we used to use the word failure and for example this season a lot of teams are fighting for top four. I am sure that we will be fighting until the end for the top four. But if Hyderabad or another team like NorthEast are not in top four you cannot call this as a failure.”

Hyderabad is facing Bengaluru FC tomorrow which has dropped points and are likely to come back stronger but Manolo Marquez’s men are ready to face them.

“For me, Bengaluru is a very strong team and unfortunately they don’t have Dimas, Ashique and other players.”

“I don’t know exactly what we will change tactically but when we have the ball, we will try to arrive with maximum players to the inside box of Bengaluru and when they have the ball we need to make sure to stop them getting their maximum players into our box.”

In the recent interview with Igor Štimac, he was praising the young players of Hyderabad FC and Manolo Marquez said he will be happy to see his players playing in the national team.

“I don’t know how many players will play but I am sure some of them deserve to play in the national team. I think these guys are full of talent and I hope if I am in India till the end of March I will watch the game and if I will be in Spain I will try to watch the game, not only for me but for the staff, for the club, for the club but for the city.”
