4. Adrián Luna

Adrián Nicolás Luna Retamar will be Vukomanović’s attacking midfielder/secondary striker for the upcoming ISL iteration. Adrián Luna will be filling in the gap whose onus was previously fulfilled by Facundo Pereyra.

The 29-year-old Uruguayan is coming to Kerala Blasters after having a sterling spell at Melbourne City FC (A-League). He spent two seasons at Melbourne City FC, and in his previous season at the club, the club finished 2nd in the league stages and won the championship following the league stage.

In the last season, Luna played a total of 24 matches (scoring three and assisting three) for the Melbourne City FC team, of which he played the entire course of the match in 13 games. Luna had also sustained a hamstring injury and was out for three games. He also completed 38 key passes and 42 through balls. (Sources – Wyscout and Transfermarkt).

Although, from what we’ve seen of Luna in the pre-season and Durand Cup matches, the player seems to be extremely promising, and the fans would definitely be eager to see his playmaking in the ISL for Kerala Blasters. Since neither Jorge Díaz nor Álvaro Vázquez has touched down in India, Luna is seen playing a more offensive role, often attempting to score goals. But without a doubt, Adrián Luna will smoothly fit into the system of Vukomanović, lurking to feed balls into the final third for the strikers to finish it with panache.

Adrián Luna has previously plied his trades for clubs such as RCD Espanyol, CE Sabadell FC, Gimnàstic Tarragona, and so on, and featured in leagues and competitions such as Primera División (Uruguayan First-tier league), Liga MX Apertura (Mexican 1st Division), LaLiga2 (Spanish Second-tier), Copa del Rey (Spanish domestic cup; analogical to the formerly held Hero Super Cup), and so on. In his whole career, Adrián Luna has played a total of 338 matches, registering 48 goals and 46 assists to his name. (Source – Transfermarkt).

Looking at some of his stats from 2015/16 and after, Luna has played a total of 183 matches, registering 29 goals and 29 assists. (Source – Wyscout).

With such a wealth of experience, Adrián Luna promises to be a treat to the eyes for Kerala Blasters FC.
