Match Preview: Mumbai City FC vs FC Goa, Injuries, Team News, Predicted XI and more

The two West Coast giants are all set to lock horns in a scrumptious reverse fixture affair. Tabletoppers Mumbai City FC will be facing the challenge of fifth placed FC Goa who will be seeking a vengeance at the GMC Stadium, Bambolim.

Ahead of tonight’s game, the squad balance seems to be skewed in favour of the islanders as the gaurs will account for a significant absentee in Brandon Fernandes. The arrival of Adil Khan, Amarjit Singh Kiyam and Glan Martins has propitiated the fans, but coach Juan will have to make a wise pick from a set of very eclectic choices.

On the other hand, coach Sergio Lobera will aim to solidify Mumbai’s stance on the summit also clinching a double over his former side. Having his core intact, Lobera’s Mumbai City FC has been a formidable side throughout the season.

Speaking about the points table, there’s a huge abyss of 11 points that separates the two teams. ATK Mohun Bagan will be following the game closely as it seems to be pretty crucial to decide the fate of all the teams contesting for a spot in the top four.

News from the Dugout :

Inclusion of Glan Martins, Adil Khan and Amarjit Singh Kiyam has added the firepower in the Goan setup.

FC Goa’s stalwart Brandon Fernandes is all set to miss another game because of his injury. Defender James Donachie is available for the game, but most likely he’ll start from the bench.

Whereas counterparts Mumbai City FC will have their full squad available for the upcoming game.

Indian Players to Watch Out :

Bipin Singh has dominated the left wing under coach Lobera and his rise has been pivotal for the islanders. Bipin’s consistency has favored his successful run so far having made 6 goal contributions (2G + 4A) in 14 games altogether.

It took no time for the homeboy Adil Khan to take charge of the grim Goan defense. With pinpoint passes and crucial clearances, Adil will look forward to barge into the limelight as well as the National team contention.

The U-17 Worldcupper Amarjit Singh was a key addition to bolster FC Goa’s midfield. The youngster has already started making his mark as he scored a heading goal which was later credited to the deflection against the goalkeeper.

Key Foreign Players :

Hugo Boumous, Mumbai City FC

Ahmed Jahouh and Hugo Boumous will be crucial for Mumbai’s outing against Goa. Their dominance in the midfield can definitely turn tables in their favour. Jahouh has accounted to almost a thousand passes in his 12 appearances whereas Boumous has assisted 6 times and scored once which makes him one of the best playmakers in the league.

Goa’s Jorge Ortiz has been in a phenomenal form and his performance in the final third has majorly influenced his team’s results.
