Match Review : Northeast United FC vs Bengaluru FC

Northeast United FC managed to held Bengaluru FC for a crucial away draw as rain interrupts the rhythm of the match at the Sree Kanteerva Stadium earlier today. Although Bengaluru FC dominated the most ball possessions in the match, they failed to capitalize on their chances and had to settle for a goalless draw against the highlanders.

In the opening quarter of the match Ashique Kuruniyan looked solid as a wingback and made some interesting runs charging down the left flank. However he failed to hit the target after displaying miraculous dribbling skills in the 16th minute of the match. Martin Chaves on the other hand tested Gurpreet Singh Sandhu with a shot from long range to register the first shot on target of the game. Just before the stroke of half hour, Udanta Singh missed a golden opportunity as he failed to hit the target from an excellent through ball by Raphael Augusto and shot behind the net. The first half of the game ended in a controversial way as a possible penalty in favour of Bengaluru FC was overlooked by the referee and neither of the two teams failed to open the scoring.

Northeast United FC started the second half in an attacking note as talismanic forward Asamoah Gyan struck the crossbar in the 52nd minute from a brilliant cross by Martin Chaves. Bengaluru FC gained several corners during the course of the second half but failed to convert them into possible goals. The later part of the match was affected by rain and rhythm of the game slowed down towards its end. After the four additional minutes on completion of regulation time,referee blew the whistle and match ended as a goalless draw.
