From Roberto Carlos to Del Pierro, many successful footballers have set their footprints at the Hero Indian Super League and helped Indian footballers to flourish even more by providing adequate foreign expossure. In this article we try to look back at one player who at one stage of his life captained some of the big names in world football right now like Neymar, Coutinho and Casemiero. Neymar is the world’s costliest player right now and Casemiero had the fortune of winning three Champions League Title just at the age of 25 and Coutinho has played in some of the biggest European Clubs in the world like FC Barcelona, Bayern Munichen and Liverpool.
Gerson Vierra was born in the Porto Algre region of Brazil in the year 1992. He entered the Gremio Academy in 2000 and has been with the club till he was selected as the Captain of Brazil’s U17 team which participated in the FIFA U17 World Cup 2009, a competition which featured some of the big names in world football right now including Isco, Sergio Roberto, Mario Goetze, Marc Andre Ter Stegen. Former Sporting Goa and Northeast United FC player Guliherme Felipe De Castro Batata was also there in the Brazil’s U17 team who played under the leadership of Gerson Vierra.

Gerson showed immense promise during his youth days. He was able to get a place in the Brazil’s U15 team and soon he was made the captain of Brazil’s U17 team which was going to participate in the FIFA U17 World Cup 2009 due to his impressive performances at the Sendai Cup held in Japan in the sane year. Although Brazil bowed out from the prestigious tournament without knocking the door of the knockout stages,the tournament will still remain one of the best memories of Vierra’s life.
Vierra first made his debut in Indian Super League when he signed for Mumbai City FC in 2016. He joined the club in the following season of the tournament as well and due to his impressive performances he was offered by ATK to play one more season in the Indian Super League which he grabbed by both hands and played for the Kolkata based side in the 2018-19 season of Hero Indian Super League.
Gerson currently plays as a center back for Tanzanian Club Simba S.C.
