It’s no wild guess that Minerva Punjab FC is out of favour from AIFF after Minerva’s owner Ranjit Bajaj led the I league club’s protest against FSDL and AIFF by withdrawing from Super Cup.
The protest was against step motherly attitude of AIFF and FSDL towards I league clubs. However the protest may not have gone too well with people incharge of India’s Football.
Yesterday Goal India reported that Minerva Punjab has been informed by the Odisha Sports Authority that the Kalinga Stadium will not be available to host the home matches for the Chandigarh-based club as the stadium is set to undergo renovation after the completion of Super Cup. This means AFC dream of Minerva may be over without even loosing a match. This came as a shocker to Ranjit Bajaj who took twitter to plea against it. He requested CM of Odisha to intervene and let the club continue the AFC dream.
Not very late after these two tweets. Bajaj smelled conspiracy of AIFF and FSDL in the development and put few more series of tweets where he attacked FSDL and AIFF for allegedly sabotaging Minerva’s AFC run.
After blasting the federation and ISL governing body, emotional Bajaj went on to declare in the Tweets that he can’t keep fighting anymore and decided what many other I league clubs have done in recent years, he decided to shut Minerva Punjab FC. Here are the tweets
If this really happens, it will be a black day on Indian Football. It will be very unfortunate if a brilliant club with so much success stories under the belt in very few years is going to shut like this. What do you think? will Minerva really shutdown or is it a blackmail from Bajaj to force the Odisha Sports Authority to rethink it’s decision of renovating the stadium during after super cup, prohibiting Minerva from hosting it’s home matches.
