The ISL champions have roped in promising Indian Arrows left-back Gurkirat Singh, IFTWC can exclusively confirm.
The Islanders have roped in Gurkirat on a long-term contract. The youngster from Punjab can play as a left-back as well as a left-winger. Gurkirat was one of the most consistent players for Indian Arrows last season.
Gurkirat Singh has been part of the Indian national team’s youth setup for a long time. He played a crucial role in India in the AFC U16 Championship in 2018, where India missed out on a world cup spot by a whisker. In his stint with Indian Arrows, He also captained the side in few games. His first goal in the Hero I-League came against Churchill Brothers.
The Islanders have started to strengthen their squad after losing key players like Hugo Boumous and Amrinder Singh. The Islanders have also released Bart Ogbeche, Adam Le Fondre, Hernan Santana and Cy Goddard. On the other hand, Ahmed Jahouh and Mourtada Fall have contracts with the club and are expected to stay.
Naocha Singh, Rahul Bheke and Mohammed Nawaz are the Indian recruits made by the Islanders. Gurkirat Singh is the latest addition made by the Islanders, and he will be a key part of Mumbai City FC’s set-up in the upcoming years.
