Mathias Coureur is all set to make his move to India from the Turkish second tier.
Northeast United FC have started their expedition to build a robust squad for the upcoming season in a pursuit to better their last season’s standings. First up from their shortlist, the Highlanders are set to make their maiden foreign signing of the transfer window.
Mathias Coureur hails from Martinique located in the Caribbeans, and has an extensive experience of playing in Asia having plied his trade in the Korean top tier, Kazakhstan’s first division and very recently in the Turkish second division. He has also notably voyaged throughout Europe vis a vis his outings in Bulgaria, Georgia and Spain.
IFTWC can confirm that the 33 year old has agreed terms with Northeast United FC for a one year contract with an extension clause of another year. After his outing with the Turkish club – Samsunspor, Mathias is set to fill in the boots of Portuguese winger Luis Machado who left the Guwahati based club after a year long stint.
A source close to the development mentioned, “Mathias has agreed to join Northeast United on a one year deal with option to extend for another year. He had interest from a few ISL clubs even in the last season.”
Speaking about the numbers, the attacker has bagged a total of 47 Goal contributions in the Bulgarian Top tier, furthering as 30 goals and 12 assists to his name in 80 appearances. He has been an active presence on the wings throughout his career and can double up in the central positions as well.
With this signing, Northeast United FC are set to commence their transfer proceedings for the season and the addition of the North American forward can be a crucial one!
