Northeast United FC are all set to sign Jestin George and Mohammed Irshad on a multi-year deal.
IFTWC can exclusively confirm that the Highlanders are set to bolster their defense with the addition of the former Gokulam Kerala duo, who will now barge into the Indian top tier with plenty of titles and laurels to their name.
“Mohammed Irshad and Jestin George have signed long-term contracts with Northeast United FC,” a source close to the development informed IFTWC.
Mohammad Irshad, the 24 year old defender comes with a baggage of experience. The DSK Shivajians graduate has played for numerous I league and ISL clubs including the likes of East Bengal FC, Minerva Punjab FC and Gokulam Kerala FC.
Mohammad Irhsad, the 24 year old is seemingly synonymous with versatility as he has an experience of playing at multiple positions. In the 2015 National Games, he represented Maharashtra as a striker and concluded the tournament as the highest goalscorer. Later he went on to play for the Malabarians where the defender even doubled up as a midfielder.
Jestin George who stands 6’1″ tall, plies his trade as a Centre Back. Having previously played for the Bengaluru FC U-18 side, the defender joined Gokulam Kerala during their debut outing in the I league. After being a regular for the reserves side, Gorge was in constant contention for the main team.
After claiming the 2017-18 Santosh Trophy title, where he got an opportunity to represent his home state for the first time, Jestin got a breakthrough opportunity to feature in the first team for Malabarians. The streak was carried further as he even lifted the Kerala Premier League.
With the addition of these two indigenous players, Northeast United FC aim to settle down with a very strong Indian core.
