NorthEast United have agreed on terms with the promising defender Jishnu Balakrishnan from Chennai City FC on a free transfer, IFTWC can confirm.
Jishnu was signed by Kerala Blasters a few years ago, alongside their star midfielder Sahal Abdul Samad. He played for the reserve side of Kerala Blasters. But he came into the spotlight last season after his brilliant performances for the former I-League champions.
The 22-year-old right-back has also appeared for Gokulam Kerala in the past. Last season, Jishnu impressed the most while plying his trade for Chennai City FC in the Hero I-League. After his contract expired, he was looking for opportunities in the ISL. Northeast United have finalised the deal to sign the promising fullback.
After roping in Joe Zoherliana from Bengaluru FC, Northeast United have further strengthened their defence with the addition of Jishnu. At least three clubs were interested in signing Jishnu, but the Highlanders have managed to grab his signature.
