ISL - Northeast United set to sign Joe Zoherliana from Bengaluru FC

Northeast United have begun their preparation for the next season, and Khalid Jamil has started recruiting domestic and foreign players. They are likely to extend the contract of at least three foreigners who appeared for them last season.

After the departure of many players, especially in defence, the Highlanders have strengthened their squad by adding Joe. Joe can be an ideal replacement for Ashutosh Mehta, who has joined ATK Mohun Bagan.

Joe started his youth career at Shillong Lajong’s academy and had short stints with Chanmari FC and FC Pune City. He moved to Aizawl FC later on, where he was tested with some I-League action.

In the 2019-20 season, Joe was a key player for the People’s Club of Mizoram. He played 15 games and managed to score a goal against the Indian Arrows. In the following season, Joe penned down a 2-year contract with the Blues but failed to establish himself as the club’s first-choice right-back.

After mutually terminating his contract with Bengaluru FC, Joe has signed a long-term contract with Northeast United. Joe had attracted interest from another ISL club, but he chose Northeast United for more minutes on the pitch.
