Odisha FC has defined their midfield target in form of Lalliansanga Renthlei and are in advanced talks with 22-year old. The versatile midfielder will join Juggernauts camp from Sudeva Delhi FC on loan until the end of the season, IFTWC can confirm.
A product of AIFF Elite Academy kicked off his career with the Chennaiyin FC reserve team in 2017, where he played 12 matches across two seasons of the I-League second division.
“The club actively looked at Renthlei for a long time. As Mumbai City FC came in with an offer to Vinit Rai, the club loaned him out and now has a place to fill in till the end of the season,” said a source who tracked the developments.
Recently, the club captain Vinit Rai was roped in by the former Champions. For sure, Vinit will return with valuable playtime and experience in the ongoing ISL season and the upcoming AFC Champions League.

Looking at Renthlei, he later went on to play with Indian Arrows in the 2019-20 season but played just three matches where he clocked 156 minutes in total.
Next season, as Sudeva Delhi FC came calling, he signed a three-year’s contract with the newly formed I-League side. Without letting go of the opportunities he got, the defensive-midfielder showcased the decent qualitative abilities he got.

The Aizawl born played sixteen matches in I-League 2020-21. Recently, he was featured in Durand Cup too. This I-League season he started against Mohammedan SC in the lone match that happened of Sudeva Delhi FC.
“The postponement of I-League has led clubs and players to find their way to ISL clubs for the playing time. The ISL clubs too are analysing the reinforcement needed, hence enquiring about the required players,” added the source.
