Odisha FC have completed the signing of another youngster from I League. This time it’s Thoiba Singh Moirangthem.
Thoiba was playing for Punjab FC and is a product of Minerva Punjab academy. The Manipuri youngster has shown versatility at very small age. He mainly plays as centre defensive midfielder but can also play as center back. He has been part of Indian team in age groups.
Thoiba became youngest player to play in the I League when he made his debut at the age of 15. He is also the youngest goalscorer in the AFC Cup. He also managed to score a goal last season. He maintained passing accuracy of 78% last season and managed to grab an assist as well.
Rohan Sharma was delighted with the signing and said “Thoiba is a very exciting and versatile player and I am really happy we were able to bring him in the squad this year. Though he is extremely young, he is a player who has been able to get minutes in the I-League as well as in the age-group competitions for India. He will have a good mentor in Vinit who can help him mature and grow as per the club’s ideologies. He has an extremely high ceiling and hopefully, this year he finds his feet to develop into a better player for the future.”
Thoiba has signed a 3 year deal with Odisha FC. Odisha have roped in many youngsters this season including Hendry Antonay and Saurabh Meher. It will be interesting to how much game time these players get at Odisha FC.
