Kerala Blasters have completed the signing of Indian Arrows goalkeeper Lovepreet Singh.
Lovepreet is the tallest (195 cm) custodian in the Arrows set up and only India national team keeper Gurpreet Singh Sandhu (198 cm) is taller than him amongst the keepers plying their trade in the two professional leagues in India.
Before Indian Arrows, Lovepreet was playing for Rurka Kalan Academy in Punjab. He started as a midfielder but his coach advised him to become a goalkeeper so he can take full advantage of his height.
AIFF scouts saw him playing when they were taking trails at Rurka Kalan Academy. He wasn’t eligible for that trails because of his age. But AIFF scouts saw him and gave him the opportunity. India U16 keeper Niraj Kumar went back to Ozone FC and Lalbiakhlua Jongte suffered an injury and could not join Indian Arrows. So Lovepreet got the opportunity to play for Indian Arrows.
Lovepreet made his mark when he made some tremendous saves against Real Kashmir FC. It will be interesting to see how much game time Lovepreet gets at Kerala Blasters.
