Kerala Blasters announced the contract extension of Rahul KP and he will be staying at the Kochi-based club till 2025.

Rahul, who was a part of the U17 World Cup squad is one of the most promising young Indian footballers. He started all three world cup matches under the Portuguese gaffer, Luis Norton-de Matos.

The Thrissur-born attacker joined the club last year after two impressive seasons with the developmental side Indian Arrows.

He made his I-league debut against Chennai City FC and his first goal came against Shillong Lajong FC.

During his stint, Rahul wore the Arrows outfit for 39 matches with 5 goals to his name. He scored a beautiful goal against Mumbai City FC in the Super cup, however a late strike from the Islanders shattered Indian Arrows dreams for the tournament.

2019-20 season was his first year in ISL and he played 8 matches in total with 383 minutes on the field and added one goal against Hyderabad FC to his name.

The 20 year old joined his home club initially on a 2 year deal and now has extended it till 2025.

New head coach Kibu Vicuña is already impressed with him as he quoted earlier, “Rahul KP is a very good player. He is really fast, can play in different positions, the left, on the right, as a winger, the second striker. “

Kerala Blasters are home to three U17 World Cuppers and are definitely striving for the future.

“Kerala Blasters is home to me and the support of the fans means everything. I was very happy with my conversation with the Sporting Director and his plans for me at the club. This is only the beginning of my career, there is definitely more room for improvement and I’m confident that Kerala Blasters is the right place for me to develop even further. Hence, I’m very happy to stay back at the club, one that truly belongs to my home-state and make the best use of this great opportunity to perform at the top and prove myself.”, said Rahul, while putting pen to paper on his contract extension with the club.

“Rahul is a fantastic young talent who can take on the opposition with his pace and power. He is also an amazing player to work with, owing to his willingness to work hard and eagerness to learn. The club is invested in developing quality young performers like Rahul and I’m positive that he will be a great player, not just for Kerala Blasters but also for the country. He has a promising future and I wish him all the very best for the season.” said Ishfaq Ahmed, Assistant Coach, Kerala Blasters FC.
