I League has always been an intense league. Grabbing the throne has never been a cake walk for the I league clubs. Like the previous ones, this season is also no different. Possibly the last I league edition has also gone to last match day of the season. Chennai City FC who threatened to run away with the title has lost some vital points in the deciding juncture of the league allowing East Bengal to Catch up. East Bengal on the other hand has grabbed the opportunity with both hands and decreased the gap with Chennai City FC to a single point.

With one match day remaining Chennai City has collected 40 points from 19 match. On the other hand East Bengal is sitting behind them with 39 points. Both the club has won 12 match each but Chennai has drawn one match more (4) than East Bengal (3).

On the last match day East Bengal will face Gokulam Kerala FC and Chennai City FC will face Minerva Punjab. The match will be played simultaneously on 9th March. While Chennai City FC just need a straightforward win to win the league. East Bengal have to hope the Chennai City FC either loses and draws, while they salvage all 3 points from their match.
