Match Day 11 came to an end after a closely fought encounter between the two teams from two footballing hubs of India, Goa and North East.
The game saw fierce attacking display from both the sides along with some quality defending, at the end just to see a 1-1 scoreline, resulting in the 4th Draw in a row in Hero ISL 2020-21, and the 2nd one in a row for North East United.
Thankfully though unlike last night’s match, this time around we saw some goals, 2 to be precise and a lot of talking points from the match, including the off screen rivalry among the coaches and staffs in the sideline, which eventually sparked out though at the ending phases of the game.
Enough of discussing those events though, as those have been showering down on our social media feeds. Instead, let us see how each player performed in tonight’s game and what ratings have they earned for their match.
FC Goa:
Dominant in possession and stats, with above 70% posession and 17 shots flying, FC Goa apparently dominated the game if someone was judging just by these stats. But along with only 2 of those shots being on target, and credit to some wonderful defending from North East United, they had to settle for a 1 point from the game.
M. Nawaz – 7:
We saw a decent performance under the goal and few important saves from the young keeper, who was unfortunate enough to not be able to keep a clean sheet due to a penalty in favour of North East United.
Ivan Gonzalez – 7:
3 Matches in and Ivan has already been a pillar at the back for FC Goa. Though he was the one who gave away the penalty, it still didn’t make much of a difference in his ratings as his overall performance was majorly appreciable and he stood tall in defense like a savior for FC Goa.
Aiban Dohling – 7.5:
Aiban made his first start of the season and was rock solid at the back for FC Goa tonight. There were a few nervy moments but replacing a foreigner in the lineup and starting a game with not much experience of the Indian Super League, Aiban did a great job in handling the lashing counter attacks from North East United.
Seriton Fernandez – 6.5:
The right back, about whom much had been spoken in the previous season, had a very average game tonight and was nowhere near the performance we expected from him. But of course, every day cannot be the same so overall he had a decent game for FC Goa.
Saviour Gama – 7.5:
Another youngster, who is often highly praised, has been one of the top performers tonight. From overlapping runs to even valiant efforts in shooting, and of course, defending, Saviour Gama had a good game overall.
Lenny Rodrigues – 7:
Lenny as usual had a decent game as expected from such an experienced campaigner and would always be one man you would trust to be consistent with his performance which he surely was in today’s game too.
Edu Bedia – 7.5:
Edu Bedia’s importance in FC God’s attacks can never be ignored has he has been perhaps the main center or source of almost everything FC Goa do. From dropping down in between the Center backs to getting in the opponent Box to try and score, and with his wonderful creative passes, apart from a few moments of loss in temperament, Edu Bedia has been a key player for FC Goa tonight.
Ortiz – 7.5:
From those smooth touches and great efforts, Ortiz was another player who had quite a good game in the night. His passes and intent was positive and his work load was something which should really be appreciated.
Brandon Fernandes – 8:
Brought back into the starting lineup after injury concerns, Brandon Fernandes for another night did not fail to disappoint, as he was perhaps one of the best players on pitch for Goa till he was on, and of course the one to make a wonderful cross into the box for Igor Angulo to take his tally to 3 and get the only goal of the match for the team.
Igor Angulo – 8:
Igor Angulo, a quality striker, who had a quality game, managed a point for his team with a wonderful finish from a wonderful cross by Brandon Fernandes.
Noguera – 7:
Noguera had a decent game overall with crucial contributions in attack, apart from a few controversial moments in the game which is more good the less they are spoken about and could possibly even cause disciplinary actions being taken against him.
SUBSTITUTES: Ishan Pandita – not rated, Princeton Rebello – 7, Makan Winkle Chote – 6.5.
