North East United FC:
North East United, majorly seemed on the back foot but were very well in control of the game with some quality defending and sharp counter attacks, with almost equal and quality efforts from all the players.
A few errors from Goa’s defense, which should perhaps have been capitalized by North East but the only goal they scored came from a similar error from Goa when a defensive blunder gave away a Penalty to the Highlanders.
Subashish Roy Chowdhury – 6.5:
The experienced campaigner, Subhasish was having a good game for North East United with a few good saves but could not play the entire match as he was subbed off by young Gurmeet Singh, who did his job quite impressively as well.
Provat Lakra 6.5:
Provat Lakra was brought in to the starting lineup for tonight’s game by Gerrard Nus, and had a decent game, but later of course was subbed off in the second half of the game.
Dylan Fox 8:
The most consistent performer for North East United, in their first 3 matches was arguably Dylan Fox. He has been a master in defense and has done ever so well in all 3 games and of course the same for the night.
Benjamin Lambot 8:
Not much into the limelight like Fox but a silent protector at the back, Benjamin Lambot’s contribution to the North East defense has been a major reason for their great performance tonight even with the minority of possession with them, as him and Dylan were letting nothing past them instead of repeated attempts from FC Goa.
Gurjinder Kumar 7:
Gurjinder is someone who isn’t much talked about like a certain Rakesh Pradhan or a Jessel Carneiro at the left hand side but that is just because of the instructions he has, which he stood up to, quite well.
Apuia 8.5:
Apuia was the captain for tonight’s game and also eventually the hero of the match. A captain leading from the front. Well, from the midfield to be precise as this young lad was playing like a Maestro in the midfield, controlling things, defending, attacking, and consistent as ever, Apuia has undoubtedly been the best player on the pitch in this game.
Khasa Camara 7.5:
Camara is someone you would generally lend down your responsibilities of controlling the midfield for the team, as a coach. For this game though Apuia was leading the role but Camara was quite good too as usual and had a good game overall.
Fanai Lalrempuia 7:
Rempuia as he is often called, the young lad had put in a good shift in the midfield along with few valiant efforts to contribute in attack for the Highlanders.
Sylla 8:
A workhorse indeed, Sylla was the man who the Highlander brigade would be keeping their bets on for scoring in further matches. Starting the game ahead of Kwesi Appiah, Sylla scored the only goal from the penalty spot, but though had to re-take it, didn’t fail to convert it.
Luis Machado 8:
Luis Machado is one of the players, many fans even apart from the North East fans were eagerly waiting to see more of, and without a second thought it can be said that he was shining bright like a diamond in the North East attack and had a wonderful game. It can be safely said that very soon this man might be a threat to the opponent defenses, and can be a force to reckon with.
SUBSTITUTES: Roccharzela – 6.5, Kwesi Appiah – 6.5, Ninthioi – 7, Gurmeet Singh – 7, Ashutosh Mehta – 7.
