6. Iman Basafa
Iman Basafa, who joined Bengaluru FC recently as their Asian signing, brings in the experience of playing for various Iranian clubs and also Iran U17,U20 and U23 teams. Iman has been signed as a replacement of Erik Paartalu. Iman started his footballing journey with a second-divison Iranian football club called Shahrdari Bandar Abbas in 2009. Then he played for numerous Iranian football clubs like Esteghal , Fajr Sepasi, Malavan, Aluminium Arak, Pars Jonubi and Machine Sazi. This is the first time Iman is going to play outside Iran and it is going to be interesting to see how he’s going to acclimatize himself to Indian conditions.
Iman Basafa is a defensive midfielder who played 9 games for Machine Sazi last season. Basafa can be one of the crucial players for Bengaluru FC. He is a defensive midfielder who reads the game well and knows when to initiate attack and when to hold back. He is very comfortable with the ball, passing and dribbling. He almost wins all the lose balls and has the potential to be the X factor in the team.
It is going to be interesting to see whether he can cope up with the competition in the squad. It would be also interesting to see how Marco uses him in the squad. He is going to be one of the key players in the continental competitions for Bengaluru FC.
