Exclusive – Rohit Danu signs for Bengaluru FC on a Free Transfer

-

IFTWC can exclusively confirm that ISL Playoff Runners-Up Bengaluru FC have signed up India Junior International Rohit Danu on a free transfer.

Rohit Danu has represented India at U-16, U-17, and U-20 levels. The forward signed for Hyderabad FC ahead of the 2020-21 season after plying his trade for the Indian Arrows. That was the breakthrough season for the Nizams under Manolo Marquez but they couldn’t make it to the semifinals. They missed by two points but the promise this bunch of youngsters showed was one of the highlights of the season. They carried it on and went on to win the ISL Final in a shootout the next season.

Playing mostly on the wings, Danu scored only two goals and managed one assist that season. His game time got reduced this edition as he only averaged 37 minutes per game – ending the tournament without a single goal or assist.

Coach Manolo Marquez will also leave the club at the end of this season, as announced by the club itself.

The sensibility of the decision from the player’s side is ought to be questioned as Bengaluru FC have a plethora of forwards. Simon Grayson plays two strikers upfront and that suits Danu’s style of play. Roy Krishna and Sivasakthi have done enough to retain their starting positions upfront. So that leaves Danu with minutes off the bench. The player will join after the Super Cup, as it is counted in the current season.
