Ashley Westwood was appointed as the first-ever head coach of Bengaluru FC in 2013 after the club’s foundation. Under Ashley, Bengaluru FC won the I-League in their debut season. In the following season, they were set to defend their title but were denied by a late equalizer by Mohun Bagan, but they managed to win the Federation Cup. Westwood continued his successful stint with the club as they clinched the I-League again in 2016.

After parting ways with Bengaluru FC, Ashley had a stint with Penang FA, a club from Malaysia Super League. He returned to India after he was appointed as the director of football of ATK. After the sacking of Teddy Sheringham, the 44-year-old English coach was appointed as the head coach, but he only lasted for 7 games as they managed to get only 1 point.
