An exciting game ended in a draw. Read what both the coaches had to say in the post-match press conference.
It was Déjà Vu at Tilak Maidan as SC East Bengal equalized at the very last minute as what would seem like a tit for tat for Kerala Blasters FC for how the latter finished their game in their previous outing with the prior.
Kibu Vicuña’s team almost clinched the three points, but a blow from Scott Neville shattered the team.
Both the coaches shared their thoughts on the game in the post match press conference.
Kibu expressed his thoughts on the game as he said
“Tonight, very difficult because we had the three points and we lost two. In the last chances, they had the ball more than us but they did not have any clear chances. We had the best chances and we scored one. We almost had the three points and at the end of the match, we lost two. It’s true that it’s a hard moment because it was an improtant match for us to get some points, in two matches in a row and climb some positions.”
Kibu also added that in the course of 45 minutes, the team had more chances and was a good game overall.
Bagging the Hero Of The Match award, Sahal had an incredible night at the Tilak Maidan. Kibu spoke about Sahal as he said
“I think Sahal is a very important player for us. Every day he is performing well. He is working hard and we are happy that every day he is playing better. He did well.
Kibu shared his thoughts on the attacking side of Kerala Blasters as he said
“Yes, today we had Sahal and Facundo in the starting eleven. We also played with two strikers, Garry Hooper and Jordan Murray. With these four players in attack and with Jessel and Nishu, they are offensive fullbacks. Even though we did not have the balls at the beginning of the season, we are an attacking team and we are creating more chances.”
Gaffer also shared his thoughts on the opponents and the teams defense as he said
“Well, I think there are patches where we were performing well. Today, against a very difficult team with very good players, our defensive performance, not only defense, the whole team didn’t concede too many chances as a team that has the quality of Bright, Maghoma, Pilkington, Aaron, top players in the set pieces. I think we performed well even in a situation that we had to make some changes in the defensive line because of injuries.”
Kibu also confirmed that Jessel had an injury, which led him to be substituted.
Jordan Murray has been consistently scoring goals for the team and speaking about the Aussie sniper, the gaffer said:
“We are very happy with Jordan, also with Garry. Jordan is a boy who is giving everything, his 100% he has shown that he is a good goalscorer and now you know, the strikers are important, and Jordan is in form.”
