Sandesh Jhingan signs for ATK Mohun Bagan FC on a 5 year deal

Sandesh Jhingan was unequivocally the most sought after name in this transfer window. The 27 year old center back has made his intentions clear as he signed a long term contract with ATK Mohun Bagan FC.

ATK Mohun Bagan, the newly merged club, is one of the best examples having an amalgamation of ‘glorious past’ and ‘vibrant future’ as quoted by one of their directors. The team will be carrying forward its rich legacy and winning track record as ONE unified unit from the upcoming season. Accordingly, they are leaving no stones unturned for building the best squad in the league.


The signing of Sandesh Jhingan has made the club tick off the name which was right on the top of their shortlist. Jhingan is arguably the best Indian defender at this point of time, and his availability as a free agent was one of the biggest talking points of the season. After mutually terminating his contract with Kerala Blasters FC, Jhingan will be joining ATK Mohun Bagan FC in their race for defending the title. It is being heard that he will become one of the highest paid Indian footballers after this deal.

Coach Antonio Habas has retained most of his core lineup, and with the additions of Indian internationals like Subhasish Bose and Manvir Singh from Mumbai City FC and FC Goa respectively, ATK Mohun Bagan is all stacked up for the coming season. They have also roped in experienced Spaniard Tiri who would partner with Sandesh Jhingan in the central defense.

Jhingan has currently returned back to his home in Chandigarh and is expected to join the proceedings later this month. As earlier quoted by him, Jhingan has picked the club that would help him grow and likewise we wish him a very fruitful journey up ahead.
