Sandesh Jhingan was unequivocally the most sought after name in this transfer window. The 27 year old center back has made his intentions clear as he signed a long term contract with ATK Mohun Bagan FC.
ATK Mohun Bagan, the newly merged club, is one of the best examples having an amalgamation of ‘glorious past’ and ‘vibrant future’ as quoted by one of their directors. The team will be carrying forward its rich legacy and winning track record as ONE unified unit from the upcoming season. Accordingly, they are leaving no stones unturned for building the best squad in the league.
The signing of Sandesh Jhingan has made the club tick off the name which was right on the top of their shortlist. Jhingan is arguably the best Indian defender at this point of time, and his availability as a free agent was one of the biggest talking points of the season. Now coming to what made ATKMB the most lucrative project for our talismanic defender– firstly the record of the team, secondly the calendar season with AFC Cup appended later in the year and last but not the least the whole hype around the club which can potentially be the finest credential on his profile.
Coach Antonio Habas has retained most of his core lineup, and with the additions of Indian internationals like Subhasish Bose and Manvir Singh from Mumbai City FC and FC Goa respectively, ATK Mohun Bagan is all stacked up for the coming season. They have also roped in experienced Spaniard Tiri who would partner with Sandesh Jhingan in the central defense.
