Sergio Lobera, the head-coach of Mumbai City FC and the striker Adam le Fondre addressed the media in pre-match press conference ahead of the clash against Kerala Blasters FC.
Speaking about the last game against NorthEast United FC, Lobera said,
“Practically, it is impossible not to lose any game during the whole season. We know in this competitive league this situation can happen. We should not get affected by one result, because we need to keep improving and continue working with the same ambition. We need to learn from our mistakes as always in all games. But, I am not worried about the situation.“
Rowllin Borges missed the last match due to suspension. Lobera shared his thoughts on the midfielder and said,
“If you know, Borges is an important player for us. Because for me as a coach, it is not possible to find excuses because one player is missing. I think we have enough players and a very good squad to win the game. But there are no excuses to lose the last game, only because we missed one player.“
The Spaniard shared his opinion on the challenge against Kerala Blasters FC,
“Kerala Blasters have improved. Now they are competing very well and playing very well. The first half of the last game was a very good example of their play. It is always going to be a difficult game against a very good team. They try to play out from the back. The most important thing is to put our focus and to compete well against a very good team like Kerala.“
Ahmed Jahouh will miss tomorrow’s clash again due to suspension. It’s the 3rd time he will miss a match. Addressing the same, the head-coach said,
“It is lot actually to miss three games. But we need to improve in some things because sometimes, it was possible to avoid the cards. Jahouh is the player with the most tackles in the league. When we lose the ball, sometimes we need to take the risk and fouls happens which is very usual in football. We need to improve these numbers because it is very important for me as a coach to have full team available for every game.“
Two of the defender’s Sarthak Golui and Sourav Das left the squad and join SC East Bengal. Commenting on the same Lobera told IFTWC,
“They didn’t have enough opportunities with us because were are using two foreign players in this position. It’s very important for them to play because they want to be in the national team, they should get game time.“
The English striker Adam le Fondre shared his thoughts about his role in the team and on the field and said,
“I think, my role is always the same which is to score goals and make the team win. It doesn’t matter if it’s the 1st minute or 90th minute, coming on or coming off. I and Ogbeche have the same role that is to help the team win by scoring goals. I don’t think my role has changed since I was a five-year-old.“
Fondre concluded speaking about Jackichand Singh who has joined Mumbai City FC in January transfer window,
“He’s very direct and he is a good quality player. He attacks full-backs and gets behind them. He brings pace to the frontline and helps in counter-attacks. Also, he stretches the game and creates pockets for me. He adds good variety to the team. You need to have an assortment of weapons which can exploit teams in different ways and we have got that quality in Jackichand.“
