Untold Story of Shubham Sarangi

Every superhero has an origin and an inspirational story. Often, there are personal tragedies, sufferings at a very early age. The journey can be very long from a faraway place and ultimately the discovery and harnessing of their power to transform the world around them. Hardworking, according to the dictionary means a person who’s tending to work with energy and commitment, according to me, it means Shubham Sarangi. The young sensation started his football journey at the age of 4, after moving to Delhi. He would watch other kids play from his balcony, but was always denied to play with them considering his age. But, none of them knew that this kid is going to entice all the football lovers with his football skills one day.

Nonetheless, his mother would always encourage him, play with him, and give him tough completion, which surely has resulted in him being so staggering to watch. He later went on to fall in love with the game like everyone and was given the opportunity to lead his school team just at the age of 12, which he capitalized on like always. He was scouted and given a chance to represent the under 13 national team in the AFC qualifiers while playing for the Delhi State Team and that’s when Sarangi’s closed one and also him got an idea that he’s going to do something big and wasn’t just an ordinary player.

Missing out to represent his country at the under 17 World was obviously very painful for the young lad, but ever since then he has worked hard and proved himself. Shubham has also played for the academy team of Minerva Punjab FC. He was very influential there as he managed to score 8 goals for them and was considered one for the future since then.

Shubham had some offers from Europe as well before signing for Delhi Dynamos FC, but he decided to be with the Delhi based side because they were providing him a huge platform to perform and make a name for himself. After signing for them, he was sent to Aspire Academy in Doha and it’s very fair to say that, it has evolved him into a better player. After staying there for 5 months, he returned to India and made a total of 8 appearances for the Delhi based side.

In the 2019-20 season of ISL, Shubham was one of the best Indian players and was loved by Kalinga Brigade and all the other Odisha FC fans. He was one of the best full-backs in the league and was a very interesting player to watch out for.
