Albert Serran signs a contract extension with Bengaluru FC ahead of upcoming edition of Indian Super League. The defender has put pen on paper that’ll allow him to play under Carles Caudrat for another season.
The 34-year-old defender was a key member for Bengaluru’s defense which went on to win the title last season. The Spanish defender was formidable for the blues at the back in his maiden Indian Super League season along with his fellow countryman Juanan Gonzalez. The center-half had a good season with Bengaluru FC making 17 appearances with 15 starts under the Spanish Coach.
Bengaluru FC have retained four foreigners for the upcoming season including Albert Serran. Serran had a good season for the blues last season with an impressive 88% passing accuracy and making 114 clearances.
“I am so happy to be coming back to the Bengaluru FC family once again. It’s a matter of pride for me to pull on the BFC blue for another year and I will be giving everything to the club’s cause of challenging for the title again,” said Serran after extending his contract with the club based in Bengaluru.
Bengaluru FC’s head coach was also happy to have the Spanish defender back by adding, “Albert has come off a fantastic season with us, partnering with Juanan to lend our defence solidity. He’s an experienced hand, a fantastic professional and above all a great team player.”
The Gaffer also added that, “Handing him a new contract is in line with our efforts to retain as many players as possible from our championship-winning squad last year and I’m certain he will deliver yet another solid season for Bengaluru FC.”
