SC East Bengal bagged a much-needed and an important win tonight against Bengaluru FC. The Red and Golds and slowly climbing their way up the table, they now stand with 10 points at the 9th position. Matti Steinmann scored the solitary goal from an assist from Narayan Das and helped SC East Bengal take home three points tonight. Assistant Coach Tony Grant addressed the post-match press conference,
Tony Grant said,
“If you roll this all the way back to the start, we only had two weeks preseason, and we had a whole bunch of players who no one knew. So, it was just common sense that it was going to take time. If anyone thought we’ll be all set in a week or two, they’re crazy. So, we got our time. Our players now understand that we’ve brought a couple of new players in. Raju (Gaikwad), Harman (Singh), Tomba (Singh), all are doing well. It’s a work in progress.
“It (points) has never been a problem for us. We’re confident in our ideas and our vision. It just takes time, simple.”
The tactician said that his team has now proved by this match that they’re both good with the ball and good in defence and that he’s satisfied that it was done against a good team like Bengaluru FC.
Tony Grant said,
“These are our early days in ISL, Bengaluru has a history (with ISL). We’re showing that we are fighters. We are scared of no one and we’ll fight with everyone.”
Tony Grant signed off.
