5.DIMITAR BERBATOV

Berbatov’s transfer to the Kerala Blasters FC created a huge buzz around. The Bulgarian striker who has played over 350 matches in the Premier League and over 200 matches in the Bundesliga was indeed a huge name for the ISL outfit. Berbatov has notably represented Bayer Leverkusen, Manchester United, Fulham, Tottenham and Fulham. He has also been named as the footballer of the year for mammoth 7 times back in Bulgaria.

Although the Blasters ended at the 6th position at the end of the season, Berbatov left his footprints on the Footballing map of India as he bade adieu to the world of Football. Here are some of his stats:

4. ELANO

Elano Blumer, aka Elano is one of the most talismanic attacking midfielders in the history of Chennaiyin FC. Having played for Santos, Flamingo, Galatasaray and the Premier League giants Manchester City, Elano joined the ISL side Chennaiyin FC in 2014. He had a great outing with the ISL outfit as he played with them for two seasons which were 2014 and 2015 respectively.

The Brazilian worldcupper was crucial in CFC’s triumph at the 2015 edition of the ISL as they ended the season with the title. Elano went on to move back to Santos after a complex issue in the subcontinent. Elano hung his boots in 2017 and began with his new role as a coach. Here are some of his stats :

3. DIEGO FORLAN

The legendary Uruguayan Center Forward who played for some of the best clubs in the world, joined Mumbai City FC in January 2016. Forlan had such a huge CV; to name a few – Manchester United, Villareal, Atletico Madrid, Inter, Internacional were some his ex clubs.

The worldcupper was fantastic for the islanders as they topped the league table and went on to the playoffs. Forlan aslo scored a fantastic hat trick against KBFC. Unfortunately MCFC missed the Final spot by narrow margin against ATK despite of the two magnificent free kicks by none other than, Deigo Forlan!
