2. Shubham Sarangi(Odisha FC)
Shubham Sarangi, Vishakhapatnam born lad, currently plays at the Right back position for Odisha FC in the Indian Super League. After representing India in the 2013 U-14 AFC qualifying tournament held in Iran, he started his youth career with Minerva Punjab in 2015/16 and participated in U15 & U18 league tournaments. Shubham rose to prominence when he was selected to be a part of India’s preparatory squad for the FIFA U-17 World Cup but the youngster didn’t make the cut for Luis Norton de Matos’s final squad for the prestigious event.
He could only watch his fellow teammates becoming a part of history by becoming the first Indian side to play in any World Cup. However, it was just a start for a hardworking boy to break the grounds in this beautiful game as he was signed by Delhi Dynamos FC (re-branded as Odisha FC) for the 2017-18 season. He was sent to the Aspire academy (leading international academy based in Doha) for five and a half months.
On his return, he made 9 appearances for Delhi Dynamos in the 2018/19 season playing as a right back. The best season for the 20-year-old came in 2019 when he wore the jersey tagged with Odisha FC’s crest where he announced himself as a right-back who had the guts to play against top-class teams and even at the international level soon. He made 17 appearances in the club’s inaugural season as Odisha FC.
