The former Kerala Blasters youth player was a huge success story in a historic title-winning season for Gokulam Kerala FC. Promoting Emil Benny into the senior team turned out to be a masterstroke from Italian Gaffer Vincenzo Annese. The 20-year-old should already be on the wishlist of several Indian Super League clubs as he bagged the I-League Emerging player award. From missing the title-deciding spot-kick in the Kerala Premier League final to winning the I-League trophy Emil has progressed rapidly in such a short period of time. Emil scored 3 goals and provided 2 assists in the recently concluded I-League season.
