#2 Chennaiyin FC 2-1 Hyderabad FC
The beginning of the ISL 6 was not at all a happy one for the Chennai team and their fans. They managed to get just one point against Mumbai City FC and lost all the other three fixtures and were still goalless. And yet another gloomy and dull match was expected at the Marina Arena on 25th November 2019 where CFC was hosting Hyderabad FC.
During the 90 minutes of the game, there were many a chances for both the teams which none of the sides could capitalize. But there was a twist in the tale which nobody had anticipated.
André Schembri got a shot on goal in the 90+2nd minute and fortunately for Chennaiyin FC, the HFC custodian Kamaljit was unable to stop it. The fans went crazy as the Chennaiyin team broke into a wild celebration. They had just stopped their goal-less drought and were sniffing victory. But who knew it wasn’t meant to last long!
A couple of minutes later, HFC were awarded a corner kick and an opportunity to level terms with Chennaiyin. And that’s exactly what they did! Michael Kilgallon’s header in the 90+5th minute found the back of the net as Hyderabad had all but salvaged a point. But yet again the footballing gods along with the Chennaiyin forward from Lithuania had different plans.
Just a minute after Kilgallon levelled scores for Hyderabad, Valskis managed to go past the defenders and shoot a scorcher past Kamaljit Singh as Chennaiyin took the lead again and an assured victory in a match which unfolded after the regulation time.
The final whistle was blown a few moments later as CFC clinched their first victory in the fifth game of the 2019-20 season in the most bizarre way possible.
